It is common to discuss
the anatomy of a person, the interior of buildings, the equipment of cars and
the filling of computers. I suggest you to discover the anatomy of the products
of the stop valves. The starting item for analysis is a ball valve for water.

This product is installed in almost every home in our country. This is an indispensable element of heating and water supply systems. It performs the function of overlapping the flow of the working medium (in most cases, water). The valve is very reliable and easy to use. But, at the same time has a complex design. The product consists of 10-14 elements (depending on the design of the stem assembly).

main components of the crane:

The main working
element of the construction is the shutter ball (6). It is fixed between two
saddle rings (8). It has a hole through which water flows. By turning it, the
tap closes the water path. The device is closed by turning the handle (1). It
is fixed to the body with a nut (7). The effort from manipulating the handle to
the ball is transmitted through the rod (3). The rod is inserted into the
groove of the bolt and fixed to the valve body (2) with the help of a nut (4).
The stem assembly is sealed due to the seal (5).

The butterfly has small
dimensions and has a lower cost. Because valves with this type of handle can be
installed in a variety of locations and positions. Aluminum alloys predominate
as a material for these products.
Handles are usually
steel. Some plants add a polymer or rubber coating. It is more convenient at
operation. Efforts at opening are much less. But due to the size there are
restrictions with the installation site.

and colors.

The yellow color of the
butterfly corresponds to the gas valves, the orange to the solar collector
systems. Blue often means tap for cold water. Green means that the crane
materials do not contain harmful substances and are made especially for
drinking water. The main color is red.
Only the convenience of
overlap depends on the design of the handle.
In the majority of
cases, the bodies of ball valves are
made up of composite. Of the two half-corps: small (2.1) and larger (2.2). As a
rule, brass is used for the production of casings. But there are also valves
made of copper, plastic and stainless steel.

The next and very
important is the stem assembly. The
number and type of elements depends on the modification of this node. In this
case (as in the figure), a valve with a repairable rod assembly is shown. There
is a PTFE ring seal on the brass rod. This configuration allows you to repair
the valve during operation. Different types of stem nodes will be considered in
the next article.

The shutter ball is mainly made of a
spherical shape. Although there are different modifications, and even square
ones.

Since the surface in
the process of working tightly in contact with Teflon saddle rings, its surface should be ideal. Therefore, the ball is a
polishing process, and topped with chromium to improve slip. This element is
also made of brass. Those manufacturers who go to make their products as cheap
as possible make balls from a stele or cast iron, and saddle rings made of
polyethylene. This negatively affects the properties and life cycle of the valve.
The last detail is the handle-mounting nut. They are also
different. Some designs replace the nut with a bolt.

Often used material is iron.
But there are also brass models. The latter have the advantage of corrosion
resistance.
